چکیده

Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPN) are an economically important group of plant pests present throughout the world. In particular, root-knot (RKN), sedentary endoparasites a wide variety hosts with ability to survive in temperate regions. During 2020–2021 extensive survey Meloidogyne spp. was undertaken on island São Miguel Azores, Portugal. A total 80 samples comprising 23 species plants were collected from 13 localities 4 districts island. Samples included field and greenhouse vegetable crops. Bioassays carried out obtain females juveniles for morphological biochemical characterization isolates. The observed features showed high similarity consistency previous descriptions genus. Concerning characterization, esterase (EST) phenotype displayed patterns described M. incognita, arenaria, javanica. incognita found be most prevalent respect both natural host range geographical distribution, followed by arenaria This is first that assesses associated horticultural crops Azores Island, contributing additional information distribution this

It is considered to pose a serious threat to melon (Cucumis melo) production in Italy. In the present study, an intensive sampling of diseased cucurbits as well as tomato and bell pepper was done and the funga...

1982 Engineering durable root-knot nematode resistance in crops by RNAi silencing of a root-knot nematode parasitism gene

Secreted proteins coded by parasitism genes expressed in esophageal gland cells mediate infection and parasitism of plants by root-knot nematodes. An essential parasitism gene, designated as 16D10, encodes a conserved root-knot nematode secretory peptide that stimulates root growth and functions as a ligand for a plant transcription factor. Plants were engineered to silence this parasitism gene...

Root-knot Nematode Management in Dryland Taro with Tropical Cover Crops.

Twenty-two cover crops were evaluated for their ability to reduce damage by root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica, to taro, Colocastia esculenta, in a tropical cropping system. Cover crops were grown and incorporated into the soil before taro was planted. Barley, greenpanic, glycine, marigold, sesame, sunn hemp, and sorghum x sudangrass DeKalb ST6E were poor or nonhosts to the nematode as me...

Species conservation profile of the cave spider Turinyphia cavernicola (Araneae, Linyphiidae) from Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal

Turinyphia cavernicola Wunderlich, 2008 is one of the two endemic cavernicolous spiders known from the Azorean archipelago (Portugal). In spite of relatively intensive searches, this species is known from only three caves, but with a single sustainable subpopulation restricted to the Algar do Carvão show cave. With an observed extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2 km2 and an area of occupancy (AOO) a...
